Based on her personal relationship with Mexican painters Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, Ms. Sokolow shaped an intimate portrait using dance, slides of Kahlo‘s paintings, and a score by Mexican composers.

Artistic directorship passes to a new generation

Director Jim May, who inherited the Sokolow repertory in 2000 upon the choreographer’s passing, has announced the company’s artistic direction has been entrusted to long-time Sokolow dancer Samantha Geracht.
