8/23 & 24 — Virtual Lecture: The Soul of Sokolow Photos: Jim May by Melissa Sobel,Anna Sokolow by Barbara Morgan Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble’s founding director, Jim May, will join seven other performing artists, educators, and writers in an online workshop considering “spirit” in dance, across cultures and time, presented by the New York Baroque Dance Company. 5/20 – The Slipper Room, NYC – with Smoke Ring This year, Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble joins forces with award-winning, contemporary acapella quartet Smoke Ring.

6/13 & 14 – Benched – Jersey City The premiere of “Benched” by Samantha Géracht, choreographed for Clarence Brooks, along with works by Talley Beatty, Janis Brenner, and Robert Cleary.

4/7 – Intertwine Festival, Jersey City The Intertwine Festival pairs choreographers and composers, offering an opportunity to develop and perform original work with live music. ST/DE artistic director Samantha Géracht premieres a new dance with music composed and played by Emanuel Ayvas. At Jersey City Theater Center.

2/15 & 16 – Dances by Charles Weidman The Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble performs two major works by Charles Weidman, Lynchtown and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. Scripps Studio Theater at the Paul Taylor Dance Company Studios, NYC.

2/11 – Lecture at Hunter College Anna Sokolow and the Jewish Roots of her American Modern Dance. Samantha Géracht, Artistic Director of Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble will give a lecture at Hunter College in New York City, including live performance by company member Ilana Ruth Cohen.
