How do you acquire stage presence? What is the difference between emoting and feeling? And how do you accept the vulnerability of performing? Beyond Technique addresses those questions and more.
Beyond Technique returns for its third year, led by Samantha Géracht, Artistic Director of the Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble. Using movement as the foundation of emotional projection, a method Anna Sokolow developed while teaching at Juilliard, the class aims to help dancers deepen their performance with nuance and authenticity. In addition to ST/DE faculty, guest teachers from a variety of modern dance traditions—Graham, Horton, Nikolais/Louis, and Humphrey/Weidman/Limón—will periodically offer their perspectives, providing participants breadth in their practice of performing.
In response to the increasing economic challenges facing performing artists, and with thanks to generous donors, we are able to offer classes for $10.
