ST/DE will perform Schubert Impromptu by Claudia Gitelman and associate artistic director Lauren Naslund will perform in Doris Humphrey’s Air on the G String, on a program presented by Dances We Dance (former ST/DE founding member Francesca Todesco, artistic director).

With Charles Weidman’s glorious Bach’s Christmas Oratorio as its centerpiece, “JOY” brings light to dark midwinter with an uplifting program of expansive dancing. An exploration of joy in deep and nuanced ways.

Artistic director Samantha Géracht will present three programs at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park, New York City. This first will be a lecture/performance exploring Anna Sokolow’s development as an artist and the Jewish and New York cultural institutions that fostered the growth of modern dance in the early 20th Century.

Artistic director Samantha Géracht examines Anna Sokolow’s collaboration with composer Alex North, and the commitment to anti-fascism in their art. Géracht will introduce a performance of the re-made Slaughter of the Innocents, Sokolow and North’s response to the Spanish Civil war.

ST/DE will perform Anna Sokolow’s full-length study of urban isolation, as part of Carnegie Hall’s citywide festival, “United in Sound: America at 250.” Groundbreaking and controversial at its premiere in 1955, Sokolow’s masterwork is even more relevant to life today.

Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble and Kanopy Dance (Madison, WI) will join forces to perform Anna Sokolow’s Odes, inspired by the myths, legends and tragedies of ancient Greece. Kanopy Dance will perform Lisa Thurrell’s monumental Miserere, and ST/DE will perform Robert E. Cleary’s passionate solo, Transformations.
