Celebrating the 115th birthday of Frida Kahlo
Join the Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble in Battery Park to celebrate the birthday of beloved Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, in a serenely beautiful riverside setting. We will dance selections from Anna Sokolow’s Frida and Magritte, Magritte. Special guest Jody Sperling/Time Lapse Dance will perform Plastic Harvest and American Elm.
“A gathering of sorts” is designed as a surreal picnic of dancers embodying the work in an extended conversation with themselves, each other, and the space hosting them.
The program will be on repeat from 3-6 PM, acquiring the fluidity and extended focus of durational performances.
