June 3-14, 2019 at Ballet Hispanico, NYC. Based on the dynamic heritage of the Humphrey/Limón tradition, internationally renowned master teachers Betty Jones and Fritz Ludin transmit their own individual ways of dance. Their mentor’s voices (of the body), the experience of gravitational momentum, and breaching of barriers, will be an integral part of the workshop.
Our 2019 spring season, “I’m not here to be polite…”, will featured a reconstruction of Sokolow’s 1973 work, “Three Poems,” “Steps of Silence,” “This is Not America” by guest choreographer Robert Cleary of Kanopy Dance, “The Desperate Heart” by Valerie Bettis, and “Sleeping Bouquet” by Jim May.
The Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble is honored to present the New York City premiere of “This is Not America,” by guest choreographer Robert Cleary in its 2019 Spring season. In an interview, Mr. Cleary reflected on what shaped him as an artist, and on his drive to see the big picture.
We’ve given ourselves until March 20—half an hour before dress rehearsal starts—to raise a minimum of $6000 on Kickstarter. Please help us meet and exceed our goal.
