FRIDA: 15 minutes-5 sections with music Chavez, Revueltas, Lola Beltran, Rodrigo, 12-16 dancers with a male & female duet. A multi-media work that draws on Ms. Sokolow’s personal relationship with the painters Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Mexico. It was one of Ms. Sokolow’s last choreographic endeavors in 1997.

MURALS (1980): 12 minutes-music Chavez, 12-16 dancers with a male soloist and featured male/female duet. This pre-Christian Mayan inspired dance about God’s, fertility, harvest is a stylistic gem that pulls strongly from ancient Indian culture.

Social connections were always a priority for Anna Sokolow and this helps bring dance artists together at the highest standards of excellence, across a diverse spectrum of geographic locations, with a timely focus on the growing Mexican/American society in the United States and intending to strengthen our cross border relationship. Ms. Sokolow challenged her audiences to think deeply about themselves and their society.

A company member will proceed the tour, teach local dancers the choreography, who will then join the company in a performance in their community.
